Carroll County Proposes Tax Increase

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors voted Monday to conduct a public hearing on April 15 for a real estate tax valuation rate of 82 cents per $100 of value, an increase of 12.5 cents. The current real estate tax rate in Carroll County is 69.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. Additionally, Carroll County’s personal property tax rate would increase 35 cents to $2.30 per $100 of assessed value and the machinery and tools tax would go up 10 cents to $2 per $100 of assessed value. The board also unanimously passed an emergency ordinance that will allow it to meet in times of disasters, either in-person or remotely. The ordinance would also allow it to continue to hold public hearings by soliciting public comments through email, U.S. mail, telephone or through the internet.
